Vale’s CSP exports 1.5 million mt of slab

Vale’s co-owned slab producer Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP) exported 1.5 million mt of slab from August 2016 to April 2017 through the Pecem port, located in the Brazilian state of Ceara, local port authority Ceara Portos, said this week. CSP is a slabs JV owned by Vale, Dongkuk and Posco.
 
The company’s last slab shipment was made on Monday, Ceara Portos said. According to the port authority, the Spar Corona ship was loaded with 27,613 mt of slab and was heading to the busy port of Santos, in Brazil, located in the city of same name in the state of Sao Paulo.
 
Ceara Portos said CSP exported 906,618 mt of slab in the first four months of 2017, from January to April.
 
The port authority said eight more ships are scheduled to dock at the port in May. The vessels should transport about 300,000 mt of slab.
 
CSP has exported slab in the past few months to the US, Turkey, Italy, Thailand, South Korea, among other countries.
