Vale suspends operations at Alegria mine

Brazilian mining giant Vale has announced that it has temporarily suspended operations at the Alegria mine in its Mariana complex.

Although conditions at the mine are stable, the preventive suspension will ensure the assurance of stability under stress conditions, Vale stated. As soon as studies are completed, the mine will go back into operation.

Vale estimates that the closure will have a maximum impact of 10 million mt per year.
