Vale’s co-owned steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP) has started up a meltshop and commenced slab output at its mill located in Sao Goncalo do Amarante in the state of Ceara.

CSP expects to be operating at full capacity by H2 this year.

The meltshop should initially have a 3.1 million mt/year liquid steel capacity and a 3 million mt/year slab capacity.

CSP is said to be in an important phase of tests and adjustments, which are being performed by Posco Engenharia e Construção do Brasil (PEC).
