Vale launches artificial intelligence center in Brazil

Vale inaugurated on January 10 an artificial intelligence (AI) center in the city of Vitoria, Espirito Santo state, the company said in a statement this week.

The AI center is located at the Tubarao complex, which includes four port terminals and eight pelletizing plants. Vale said the AI center will develop and monitor technologies for the company’s business areas.

Vale said it saved over BRL 74 million per year with artificial intelligence-related projects, and it expects to save a further BRL 136 million with other projects already in place. Vale has been using artificial intelligence to manage assets, such railroads and trucks, and improve processes in the beneficiation of iron ore and pellets.
