Brazilian iron ore producer Vale has hired shipping company Wilson Sons to support the miner’s iron ore business at the Ponta da Madeira, Itaguaí and Tubarao ports. The three ports are located in the states of Maranhão, Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo, respectively.

A media report said the contract has a three-year timeline. Wilson Sons will service about 20 to 25 Vale ships per month at the ports they are located.

Each Vale vessel transports, on average, 150,000 mt of iron ore. Most Vale vessels are headed to China.
