Brazilian miner and iron ore producer Vale has named Marcello Spinelli as the company’s new coal and ferrous metals director, the company said this week.

Spinelli had been a CEO at VLI Logistica, a rail and maritime logistics company in Brazil, since 2010. Prior to that, Spinelli worked at leadership positions at Vale from 2002 to 2010, including the company’s Tubarao port complex.

Spinelli will replace Claudio de Oliveira Alves, who has been at office for just three months. Vale said Alves is currently evaluating “new opportunities at Vale.”
