Brazilian public prosecutors in the state of Minas Gerais and local miner Vale have reached an agreement to share the results of independent audits at several Vale’s dams, officials said on Thursday.
Independent audit company Worley Canada Services will perform audits at several Vale dams, including Norte Laranjeiras, B3, Dicão, Dique de Contenção, Sul (Córrego do Canal), among others.
Vale will pay for the audits, prosecutors said. The audits aim to check the safety of the dams. Prosecutors said Minas Gerais state institutions will also get information about the stability of the Vale dams.
Vale is expected to consider the auditor’s recommendations to mitigate or avoid risks.
