Brazilian flats steelmaker Usiminas said late on Wednesday that it resumed its No. 3 blast furnace following an explosion at its Ipatinga mill last week. Usiminas also resumed heavy plate and hot strip output, it said. It didn’t disclose production volumes, but said output is “gradually” resuming to “regular” levels.

As a result, the Ipatinga mill is currently operating all its equipment. Usiminas said it is helping authorities to determine the causes of the incident.
