Brazilian flats steelmaker Usiminas said this week it will reinstall a former board member who had been ousted by a court decision.

Usiminas said a local court accepted a company’s request to reinstall Luiz Carlos de Miranda Faria to his board member position. The court decision suspends a previous ruling preventing Faria from assuming membership on the board.

In July 2018, a local court ruled Faria should leave his board role, following a request from public prosecutors at the time who claimed he couldn’t take office as the executive lacked an “unblemished reputation.”

Usiminas said Faria was immediately reinstalled following the court decision this week.
