Usiminas plans to increase steel pipe output

Belo Horizonte, Brazil-based steelmaker Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais SA (Usiminas) plans to launch a modernization project to increase its steel pipe output by 40 percent.
 
Accordingly, Usiminas will invest a total of $16.5 million to upgrade equipment at two mills in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul and at one mill in Sao Paulo. Once the modernization project completed, the annual aggregate output of steel pipes produced by the mentioned mills will increase by 168,000 mt.
