The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported Tuesday that trade using surface transportation between the US and its NAFTA trading partners, Canada and Mexico, was up 13.8 percent in September 2011 compared to September 2010, totaling $77.7 billion. Compared to August, however, surface trade declined 3.3 percent.
Year-on-year, trade between the US and Canada and Mexico both experienced double-digit increases. US-Canada trade was $46.1 billion in September, a 14.7 percent increase while US-Mexico trade rose 12.5 percent to $31.6 billion.
