US wire rod exports up 26.9 percent in March

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of wire rod totaled 5,049 mt in March 2020, up 26.9 percent from February and up 38.7 percent from March 2019 levels. By value, wire rod exports totaled $4.4 million in March, compared to $3.5 million in the previous month and $3.5 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most wire rod to Mexico in March with 2,445 mt, compared to 1,350 mt in February and 1,003 mt in March 2019. Other top destinations included Canada, with 2,118 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US wire rod exports in March.
