US wire rod exports down 25.5 percent in March

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of wire rod totaled 3,639 mt in March 2019, down 25.5 percent from February and down 56.8 percent from March 2018 levels. By value, wire rod exports totaled $3.5 million in March, compared to $4.8 million in the previous month and $7.7 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most wire rod to Canada in March with 2,447 mt, compared to 3,439 mt in February and 5,816 mt in March 2018. Other destinations include Mexico, with 1,003 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US export wire rod in March.
