The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Tuesday that US raw steel production fell 0.9 percent last week (ended December 10) compared to the previous week.
Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,840,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 0.9 percent drop from the 1,857,000 nt produced in the previous week, and an 11.2 percent increase from the 1,655,000 nt produced in the same week last year.
The capacity utilization raw of US raw steelmaking facilities was 74.3 percent in the week ending December 10, compared to 74.9 percent in the previous week and 68.4 percent in the same week of last year.
