The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production rose by 1.7 percent last week, following three consecutive weeks of production decreases.
Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,707,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 1.7 percent increase from the 1,679,000 nt produced in the previous week and a 4.8 percent decrease from the 1,793,000 produced in the same week a year ago.
The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 69.1 percent in the week ending November 3, compared to 67.9 percent in the previous week and 72.4 percent in the same week last year.
