According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of tool steel totaled 11,064 mt in January 2019, up 126.1 percent from December and up 9.2 percent from January 2018 levels. By value, tool steel exports totaled $15.2 million in January, compared to $8.1 million in the previous month and $16.1 million the same month last year.
The US shipped the most tool steel to Mexico in January with 10,262 mt, compared to 4,384 mt in December and 9,359 mt in January 2018. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US export tool steel in January.
