US tool steel exports down 31.1 percent in May

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of tool steel totaled 11,339 mt in May 2019, down 31.1 percent from April and down 33.6 percent from May 2018 levels. By value, tool steel exports totaled $14.7 million in May, compared to $17.7 million in the previous month and $23.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most tool steel to Mexico in May with 10,652 mt, compared to 15,756 mt in April and 15,389 mt in May 2018. There were no other major destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US export tool steel in May.
