US tin plate imports up 5.1 percent in March

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 46,178 mt in March 2020, up 5.1 percent from February but down 31.9 percent from March 2019 levels. By value tin plate imports totaled $46.1 million in March 2020, compared to $43.2 million in the previous month and $68.2 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most tin plate from Canada in March, with 17,038 mt, compared to 14,241 mt in February and 13,896 mt in March 2019. Other top sources of imported tin plate in March include Netherlands, with 14,311 mt; Germany, with 9,007 mt; and Korea, with 3,618 mt.
