US tin plate imports up 22.5 percent in January

According to delayed final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 58,550 mt in January 2019, up 22.5 percent from December. By value, tin plate imports totaled $59.9 million in January 2019, compared to $49.7 million in the previous month.

The US imported the most tin plate from Netherlands in January, with 16,511 mt, compared to 17,514 mt in December. Other top sources of imported tin plate in January include China, with 12,120 mt; Korea, with 10,018 mt; Canada, with 8,755 mt; Germany, with 7,515 mt; and Brazil, with 3,024 mt.
