US tin plate imports rise 54.9 percent in July

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 69,382 mt in July 2018, up 54.9 percent from June and up 6.9 percent from July 2017 levels. By value, tin plate imports totaled $74.2 million in July 2018, compared to $46.9 million in the previous month and $63.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most tin plate from the Netherlands in July, with 29,642 mt, compared to 11,791 mt in June and 18,818 mt in July 2017. Other top sources of imported tin plate in July include Germany, with 13,930 mt; Canada, with 12,412 mt; Korea, with 9,785 mt; and China, with 3,108 mt.
