US tin plate imports down 6.4 percent in October

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 47,009 mt in October 2019, down 6.4 percent from September and down 17.4 percent from October 2018 levels. By value, tin plate imports totaled $50.9 million in October 2019, compared to $53.7 million in the previous month and $59.0 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most tin plate from Germany in October, with 14,630 mt, compared to 10,447 mt in September and 13,414 mt in October 2018. Other top sources of imported tin plate in October include Canada, with 13,666 mt; Netherlands, with 10,456 mt; Korea, with 3,328 mt; and United Kingdom, with 2,235 mt.
