According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 50,221 mt in September 2019, down 26.3 percent from August and down 0.4 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, tin plate imports totaled $53.7 million in September 2019, compared to $72.4 million in the previous month and $53.5 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most tin plate from Netherlands in September, with 19,211 mt, compared to 27,787 mt in August and 26,746 mt in September 2018. Other top sources of imported tin plate in September include Canada, with 13,698 mt; Germany, with 10,447 mt; Korea, with 2,962 mt; and China, with 2,072 mt.
