According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 66,971 mt in July 2019, down 22.3 percent from June and down 3.5 percent from July 2018 levels. By value, tin plate imports totaled $70.9 million in July 2019, compared to $89.6 million in the previous month and $74.2 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most tin plate from Netherlands in July, with 24,096 mt, compared to 26,488 mt in June and 29,642 mt in July 2018. Other top sources of imported tin plate in July include Germany, with 11,718 mt; Canada, with 11,295 mt; China, with 6,221 mt; and Korea, with 5,265 mt.
