The US Supreme Court rejected Monday a challenge to Section 232 tariffs on steel, declining to hear the appeal brought by the American Institute for International Steel (AIIS).
The AIIS argued that a key part of the 1962 Trade Expansion Act, under which the tariffs were imposed, violates the constitution because it delegates too much discretion to the president at the expense of Congress.
The association filed a lawsuit in June 2018 with the US Court of International Trade, which rejected the lawsuit in March 2019. The Supreme Court previously decline to hear an appeal to the case in June 2019.
