US structural pipe and tube imports up 53.4 percent in March

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of structural pipe and tube totaled 38,810 mt in March 2020, up 53.4 percent from February and up 31.1 percent from March 2019 levels. By value, structural pipe and tube imports totaled $33.8 million in March 2020, compared to $24.4 million in the previous month and $37.3 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most structural pipe and tube from Canada in March, with 21,246 mt, compared to 18,430 mt in February and 17,647 mt in March 2019. Other top sources of imported structural pipe and tube in March include Korea, with 9,944 mt; and Mexico, with 5,067 mt.
