According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of structural pipe and tube totaled 31,540 mt in July 2019, up 4.9 percent from June but down 4.8 percent from July 2018 levels. By value, structural pipe and tube imports totaled $37.2 million in July 2019, compared to $31.6 million in the previous month and $36.3 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most structural pipe and tube from Canada in July, with 18,812 mt, compared to 15,846 mt in June and 15,111 mt in July 2018. Other top sources of imported structural pipe and tube in July include Mexico, with 5,170 mt; India, with 2,028 mt; and Thailand, with 1,219 mt.
