US structural pipe and tube imports up 20.1 percent in June

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of structural pipe and tube totaled 30,080 mt in June 2019, up 20.1 percent from May but down 11.3 percent from June 2018 levels. By value, structural pipe and tube imports totaled $31.6 million in June 2019, compared to $36.2 million in the previous month and $40.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most structural pipe and tube from Canada in June, with 15,846 mt, compared to 13,941 mt in May and 18,428 mt in June 2018. Other top sources of imported structural pipe and tube in June include Mexico, with 6,499 mt; Turkey, with 4,462 mt; and Taiwan, with 1,107 mt.
