According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of structural pipe and tube totaled 30,510 mt in December 2019, up 13.1 percent from November and up 28.5 percent from December 2018 levels. By value, structural pipe and tube imports totaled $32.2 million in December 2019, compared to $28.1 million in the previous month and $51.7 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most structural pipe and tube from Canada in December, with 19,647 mt, compared to 18,964 mt in November and 11,843 mt in December 2018. Other top sources of imported structural pipe and tube in December include Korea, with 4,612 mt; and Mexico, with 3,031 mt.
