US structural pipe and tube imports down 34.2 percent in April

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of structural pipe and tube totaled 25,527 mt in April 2020, down 34.2 percent from March and down 35.3 percent from April 2019 levels. By value structural pipe and tube imports totaled $26.8 million in April 2020, compared to $33.8 million in the previous month and $50.8 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most structural pipe and tube from Canada in April, with 14,638 mt, compared to 21,246 mt in March and 16,463 mt in April 2019. Other top sources of imported structural pipe and tube in April include Mexico, with 4,923 mt; and Korea, with 1,136 mt.
