US Steel’s new line starts to operate

Pittsburgh based US Steel Corp. (USS) announced that it started operation in the new seamless pipe line. USS' officials expressed that the new line will reduce costs and provide stronger competitive ability. The line is envisaged to save energy during the producing process. Also, with this new line, the company can produce specialized standard pipe products for high temperature applications. The line will have an annual capacity of 340'000 tons of 262/264 cm to 61 cm seamless pipe for heat treating. The company has the largest quench and temper system in North America, according to company officials. USS is the sole plant which can produce the heat treating seamless pipe more than 41 cm in diameter.
