US steelmakers see rise in output-Mar 19, 2005

For the week ending March 19, 2005, US domestic steelmakers saw their weekly output rose from the previous seven days, but dropped compared to the same period last year. Production was 2.02 million net tons for the week ending March 19, 2005. That was up from the 2.01 million net tons produced during the week ending March 12, 2005, but off from the 2.07 million seen in the corresponding week of 2004. US domestic steelmakers used 89.3% of their available capacities for the week ended March 19. That was up from the 88.7% during the same period week in 2004.
