US steel service center shipments decline in March while shipments in Canada rise

March service center shipments continued their February increase for steel in Canada, while shipments in the US fell slightly, according to a report today from the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI).

US service center steel shipments in March 2018 decreased 1.7 percent from March 2017. Steel product inventories increased 7.9 percent from March 2017.

Meanwhile, Canadian service center shipments of steel products in March 2018 increased by 3.4 percent from March 2017. Steel product inventories decreased 4.5 percent from March a year ago.
