US steel mills see decline-April 2, 2005
US domestic crude steel production for the week ending April 2, 2005, was 2.025 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 89.4%. Last year's production during the same period was 2.09 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 93.9%. The past week's production represents a 0.3% year-on-year decrease. Production for the week ending April 2, 2005, dropped 0.2% from the previous week, when production was 2.03 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 89.6%. Year-to-date production through April 2, 2005, was 26.8 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 90%.
