US steel exports down 15.3 percent in November

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, monthly steel exports in November 2019 decreased 15.3 percent from October to total 545,482 mt. A year-on-year comparison shows a 2.4 percent decrease. In terms of value, US steel exports in November totaled $763.4 million, compared to $912.2 million in October and $824.9 million in November 2018.

Steel exports to Canada in November decreased 7.3 percent from the preceding month to 251,694 mt, but increased 4.7 percent from November 2018. Exports to Mexico decreased 24.8 percent month-on-month to 230,848 mt, which is down 12.5 percent from the same month a year ago.

Other top destinations for US steel exports in November include: Honduras, with 7,789 mt; Brazil, with 4,658 mt; India, with 3,983 mt; China, with 3,827 mt; and Korea, with 3,414 mt.

Major steel products exported in November include HDG, at 102,553 mt; cut-length plates, at 58,111 mt; hot rolled sheets, at 40,665 mt; cold rolled sheets, at 36,220 mt; and plates in coils, at 32,356 mt.
