Local news reported Tuesday that US Steel Tubular Products in Hughes Springs, Texas plans to cut 63 jobs by the end of April as a result of declining demand for oilfield equipment.

The Hughes Springs plant supplies specialized couplings to connect individual sections of oilfield casing and tubing. In January, US Steel announced plans to lay off 318 people from another Texas tubular products operation in Lone Star.
