US standard pipe imports up 9.5 percent in July

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 67,900 mt in July 2018, up 9.5 percent from June but down 41.9 percent from July 2017 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $65.6 million in July 2018, compared to $59.4 million in the previous month and $100.3 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from the Thailand in July, with 13,207 mt, compared to 15,729 mt in June and 10,604 mt in July 2017. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in July include Canada, with 12,383 mt; Vietnam, with 9,727 mt; UAE, with 7,900 mt; and Italy, with 5,029 mt.
