US standard pipe imports up 2.4 percent in October

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 48,839 mt in October 2019, up 2.4 percent from September but down 20.7 percent from October 2018 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $48.4 million in October 2019, compared to $48.9 million in the previous month and $62.4 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in October, with 14,254 mt, compared to 12,584 mt in September and 11,799 mt in October 2018. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in October include UAE, with 8,224 mt; Vietnam, with 5,782 mt; Mexico, with 4,459 mt; and Oman, with 3,154 mt.
