US standard pipe imports up 21.3 percent in January

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 71,609 mt in January 2023, up 21.3 percent from December and up 13.8 percent from January 2022 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $100.8 million in January 2023, compared to $88.5 million in December and $99.8 million in January 2022.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Thailand in January, with 19,878 mt, compared to 1,971 mt in December and zero tonnage in January 2022. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in January include Canada, with 14,437 mt; South Korea, with 6,317 mt; Vietnam, with 6,237 mt; and Mexico, with 5,148 mt.
