US standard pipe imports up 12.9 percent in January

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 54,362 mt in January 2020, up 12.9 percent from December but down 14.8 percent from January 2019 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $52.7 million in January 2020, compared to $45.9 million in the previous month and $66.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in January, with 11,956 mt, compared to 10,083 mt in December and 10,289 mt in January 2019. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in January include UAE, with 9,234 mt; Mexico, with 6,658 mt; Turkey, with 6,501 mt; and Oman, with 6,325 mt.
