US standard pipe imports up 0.8 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 50,801 mt in April 2019, up 0.8 percent from March but down 49.3 percent from April 2018 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $51.4 million in April 2019, compared to $48.9 million in the previous month and $96.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in April, with 11,000 mt, compared to 10,991 mt in March and 19,121 mt in April 2018. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in April include UAE, with 6,781 mt; Italy, with 4,419 mt; Oman, with 4,096 mt; and Vietnam, with 4,017 mt.
