US standard pipe imports down 7.7 percent in August

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 56,497 mt in August 2019, down 7.7 percent from July but up 10.8 percent from August 2018 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $58.5 million in August 2019, compared to $62.4 million in the previous month and $54.3 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in August, with 12,147 mt, compared to 11,631 mt in July and 11,985 mt in August 2018. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in August include Korea, with 5,138 mt; Mexico, with 5,105 mt; UAE, with 4,962 mt; and Oman, with 4,879 mt.
