US standard pipe imports down 4.1 percent in October

According to census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 61,588 mt in October 2018, down 4.1 percent from September and down 26.4 percent from October 2017 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $62.4 million in October 2018, compared to $66.0 million in the previous month and $75.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in October, with 11,799 mt, compared to 10,305 mt in September and 15,097 mt in October 2017. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in October include Vietnam, with 7,780 mt; Italy, with 7,042 mt; Oman, with 6,041 mt; UAE, with 5,340 mt; and Mexico, with 3,816 mt.
