US standard pipe imports down 21.2 percent in February

According to delayed final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 50,260 mt in February 2019, down 21.2 percent from January and down 23.7 percent from February 2018 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $50.6 million in February 2018, compared to $66.6 million in the previous month and $64.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in February, with 10,380 mt, compared to 10,289 mt in January and 15,914 mt in February 2018. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in February include Korea, with 6,961 mt; Oman, with 4,911 mt; UAE, with 4,756 mt; Russia, with 3,722 mt; and Spain, with 3,174 mt.
