US standard pipe imports down 15.6 percent in September

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 47,674 mt in September 2019, down 15.6 percent from August and down 25.8 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $48.9 million in September 2019, compared to $58.5 million in the previous month and $66.0 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in September, with 12,584 mt, compared to 12,147 mt in August and 10,305 mt in September 2018. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in September include Vietnam, with 6,373 mt; UAE, with 5,760 mt; Mexico, with 5,244 mt; and Korea, with 4,062 mt.
