Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending May 31, the US rotary rig count increased by one to 984 rigs following a four-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 184, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by three to 800. The overall rig count is now down by 76 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by seven to 85 rigs in the week ending May 31, following a 15-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 14 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
