US rig count rises slightly while Canadian count drops week-on-week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending April 9, the US rotary rig count increased by two to 432 rigs. The number of rigs drilling for gas increase by two to 93, while the number of rigs drilling for oil remained level at 337. The overall rig count is now down by 170 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 11 to 58 rigs in the week ending April 9. The Canadian rig count is now up by 23 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
