Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending May 11, the US rotary rig count increased by 13 to 1,045 rigs following an 11-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by three to 199 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 10 to 844. The overall rig count is now up by 160 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by seven to 79 rigs in the week ending May 11, following a one-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by one rig compared to the same week a year ago.
