Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending April 21, the
US rotary rig count increased by 10 to 857 following an eight-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by five to 167, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by five to 688. The overall rig count is now up by 426 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count dropped by 19 to 99 rigs in the week ending April 21, following a 14-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by only 40 rigs from the same week a year ago.
