Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending July 7 the US rotary rig count increased by 12 to 952 following a one-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by five to 189 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by seven to 763. The overall rig count is now up by 512 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 14 to 175 rigs in the week ending July 7, following a 19-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 94 rigs from the same week a year ago.
