Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending February 16 the US rotary rig count remained stable at 975 rigs following a 29-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by seven to 177 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by seven to 798. The overall rig count is now up by 224 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by seven to 318 rigs in the week ending February 16 following a 17-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 13 rigs from the same week a year ago.
